Couples Therapy Intensives

Some relationships need more than a session every week or every other week. If you and your partner are stuck in the same argument, facing a crisis, or simply cannot find the time for months of weekly or bi-weekly sessions, a couples therapy intensive offers something different: concentrated, uninterrupted time to do deep relational work and see real movement, often in a single day.

A couples intensive is an extended therapy session, either a full day or spread across two days, built around your relationship's specific needs. Instead of piecing insight together over months, you and your partner work with Kathleen or Stefanie directly, without the stop-start rhythm of weekly appointments, to get to the root of your patterns and begin practising new ways of connecting right away.

A couples intensive is best understood as compressed, focused couples therapy: instead of meeting every week or two over several months, you and your partner meet for several hours over one or two days, working through the same relational patterns with far greater momentum.

How can couples intensive help you?

Intensives are designed for couples who want depth and momentum, not just another appointment on the calendar.

More Time, More Depth

A couples intensive gives you and your partner the concentrated time to get past the surface of challenges and into what's really driving disharmony, all in one sitting.

Work Through a Crisis

Whether you are navigating a betrayal, a big decision, or a relationship at a breaking point, a couples intensive creates space to address it directly, with enough time to actually work through it rather than manage it in short bursts.

Reconnect Without the Wait

Busy schedules, travel, or simply wanting to protect your relationship before things escalate are all good reasons to choose a couples intensive. It is couples therapy that fits around your life instead of asking you to restructure it.

Leave With a Plan

Couples intensives end with concrete next steps, not just insight. You will leave understanding your relationship's core patterns and with practical tools to keep using them at home.

Full-Day or Two-Day: Choose What Fits Your Relationship

Every couples intensive is tailored to the couple in front of us, but most fall into one of two formats.

FULL-DAY INTENSIVE

A single, focused day together. Ideal for couples who want dedicated time to work through a specific issue, break a recurring cycle, or get a running start before beginning (or returning to) regular sessions.

TWO-DAY INTENSIVE

Spread across two days, with time in between to rest, reflect, and integrate. This format suits couples working through deeper or longer-standing patterns, such as trust, repair, chronic conflict, or a relationship at a significant crossroads.

Both formats include structured time apart as individuals as well as time together as a couple, so each partner's perspective is fully understood before we work on the relationship as a whole.

Is a couples intensive right for you?

A couples intensive tends to be a strong fit if any of the following sound familiar:

  • You and your partner keep having the same argument, no matter how many times you talk it through

  • Weekly sessions do not fit your schedule, or you have tried them before without the progress you hoped for

  • You are facing a specific crisis, such as infidelity, a major decision, or a separation you are trying to prevent or navigate well

  • You want to invest concentrated time and effort into your relationship rather than spreading it out over months

  • You are considering separation and want clarity, one way or another, before making a final decision

  • In-person sessions with Kathleen or Stefanie are preferred, but geographical location prevents you from engaging in therapy on a weekly or bi-weekly basis

What to Expect

A Consultation Call

We start with a conversation about what is happening in your relationship and whether an intensive is the right fit, including format, timing, and next steps.

Pre-Intensive Preparation

Before your intensive, you will each complete some individual preparation so we can use our time together as efficiently as possible. We will meet for one 80-minute couples session and two individual sessions prior to the intensive so we can hit the ground running.

The Intensive Itself

Held in Caledon East or in the West End of Toronto, we will work through your relationship's specific patterns with room to slow down where it matters.

A Plan to Take Home

You will leave with a clear understanding of your relationship's core dynamics and concrete tools to keep practising, along with recommendations for any follow-up support.
